Ballets Jazz Montréal

Alexandra Damiani was appointed artistic director of Ballets Jazz Montréal in 2021, and then executive director in 2025, following an international career spanning more than two decades in contemporary dance. Trained in France, she joined the Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet in New York in 2005, serving as its artistic director until 2015. During this time, she collaborated with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Crystal Pite, Hofesh Shechter, and Jiri Kylian, and presented the company at the Venice Biennale, Sadler’s Wells in London, and major European festivals.

Her career has also taken her into film—notably Darren Aronofsky’s *Black Swan*—and television, and has allowed her to forge close ties with training institutions such as Jacob’s Pillow and The Juilliard School.

Since joining Ballets Jazz Montréal, Alexandra Damiani has steered the company toward artistic renewal by developing new choreographic collaborations and strengthening the company’s international presence. She has presented Ballets Jazz Montréal on stages across North America and Europe, including several highly acclaimed premieres.
