Côté Danse

Founded in 2021 by Guillaume Côté in collaboration with producers Etienne Lavigne and Anisa Tejpar, Côté Danse is a Canadian contemporary dance company that has quickly made a name for itself on the national and international scenes. In five years, it has produced five works and performed more than 250 shows in 50 cities across Canada, the United States, Asia, and Europe.

Côté Danse develops an aesthetic that combines the precision of classical ballet, contemporary geometry, and refined athleticism. Its works address current issues—such as ecology, identity, and collective memory—with a formal elegance that does not exclude direct emotion. The company collaborates with artists, creators, and partners from diverse backgrounds on productions that combine artistic ambition with accessibility for all audiences.

Guillaume Côté

Born in Lac-Saint-Jean, Guillaume Côté joined the National Ballet of Canada in 1999 at the age of 16. He became a principal dancer in 2004 and performed major classical and contemporary roles alongside Roland Petit, John Neumeier, William Forsythe, Christopher Wheeldon, James Kudelka, and Crystal Pite. He has performed on the world’s greatest stages: the Bolshoi in Moscow, the Royal Ballet in London, the American Ballet Theatre in New York, and La Scala in Milan.

Appointed associate choreographer of the National Ballet of Canada in 2013, he simultaneously developed a career as a choreographer, receiving numerous commissions from Canadian and international companies. In 2021, he founded Côté Danse, where he serves as artistic director.

Chevalier of the National Order of Quebec (2019) and artistic director of the Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur since 2014, he embodies a vision of dance that is both demanding and accessible, rooted in the technical excellence of ballet yet open to a wide variety of collaborations.
