Morin/Leroux • Performing Arts

Morin/Leroux · Performing Arts is a creative structure founded on the collaboration between choreographer Alexandre Morin and author and playwright Mathieu Leroux. Their work, rooted in contemporary dance but resolutely transdisciplinary, explores choreography, staging, visual arts, and dramaturgy in a continuous co-creation process.

Since 2018, seven productions have emerged from this partnership, building an introspective, precise, and accessible universe that appeals to both seasoned performers and those taking their first steps in the performing arts. The company develops a collaborative creative practice that places performers at the heart of the choreographic language development. Its productions are presented in Montreal and at major dance venues throughout Quebec.

Alexandre Morin and Mathieu Leroux

Alexandre Morin is a choreographer, performer and teacher at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal. A graduate of EDCM in 2013, he has worked as a performer with Marie Chouinard, Sylvain Émard and Dominique Porte, developing a technical range and aesthetic sensitivity nourished by very diverse practices.

Mathieu Leroux is a writer, performer, director, and dance playwright. A graduate of UQAM and the University of Montreal, he is the author of several publications, including the novel Dans la cage (Héliotrope), shortlisted for the Chambéry First Novel Prize. In Quebec, he collaborates as a playwright with Victor Quijada (RUBBERBAND), Dorotea Saykaly, and Catherine Gaudet. Internationally, his work has taken him to productions with tanzmainz (Germany) and Ballet BC (Vancouver). His writing practice spans fiction, performance, and dance dramaturgy, demonstrating intellectual curiosity and a rare capacity for adaptation.

Together since 2018, they create pieces that champion the permeability of disciplines, the conviviality of art, and formal experimentation as a condition of their work. Their eighth collaboration, Euphoric Thresholds , will have its world premiere at Agora de la danse and Danse Danse in February 2027.
